Spring 2026 eyewear trends, from the bench

Bold acetate, in warmer tones

Acetate has been having a long moment, and spring 2026 is leaning into warmer color stories. The cooler-toned tortoise of last year is making space for amber, honey, and a softer caramel.

Frames from Oliver Peoples and Lafont in particular are coming through in these warmer havanas. They flatter a wider range of skin tones than the darker tortoise palette did.

The shapes worth trying on: a slightly larger panto (think the Oliver Peoples Sheldrake), a rounded rectangle with generous lens height (Lafont’s Reine), and the slim oval that’s been quietly building momentum since fall.

The cat-eye is back

The cat-eye has cycled through several versions over the last two decades. The current revival is more structured than vintage: a gentler upturn at the temple, less obvious lift, and proportions closer to a soft rectangle than the dramatic 1950s shape.

We’ve seen good versions from Kate Spade (Felisa, Damone), Tom Ford (the FT5919 series), and Theo. The frame works best when the lift lines up with the natural curve of your cheekbone. Our opticians will eyeball that immediately.

Titanium rimless, quietly

A surprising number of patients have come in this spring asking for titanium rimless after years away from the look. There are probably two reasons: heavier acetate has dominated for a while, and the lighter rimless feel reads as a relief by comparison.

Lindberg is the one to try here. The screwless titanium build is genuinely engineered, where most rimless frames are not. The bridge sits where it should without pad adjustment, and the frame survives years of wear in ways most rimless cannot.

What we’d skip

We try not to write seasonal “don’ts.” Frame trends move slowly, and what’s “out” is usually still in someone’s rotation.

But two notes. Heavily mirrored sun lenses are reading as dated this season, unless they’re part of a sport sunglass.

And oversized round acetate, the look that defined 2018-2020, is asking for a refresh. The proportions on most current panto designs are subtler.

Trends only matter if a frame fits your face, your prescription, and your day. We start a fitting with prescription strength (which dictates lens height for progressives), then face shape, then style. By the time we get to “what’s trending,” you’ve already ruled out most of the display case.
