Theo is the Antwerp answer to a market full of safe choices. Founded by an optician and a designer who decided the eyewear shelf needed more architecture and more color, the brand has stayed independent for more than three decades. Theo frames are recognizable across a room. As a licensed Theo carrier, we still measure, fit, and verify each one at the bench like every other frame we carry.

Color as a structural choice
Theo treats color the way a tailor treats fabric. Saturated cobalt, soft moss, mustard, terracotta. The palette is part of the architecture itself. The brand built its reputation on chromatic confidence.
Sculptural silhouettes
Theo shapes lean angular, asymmetric, and deliberately unfamiliar. Many models read as small pieces of jewelry, a frame you choose for the way it looks.
Independent and Belgian
Theo has remained privately held since 1989. No conglomerate owns the name. The collections are designed in Antwerp and produced in small runs, which is why two Theo wearers rarely turn up in the same frame.
Mille and Eye-Witness
The Mille collection is the long-running flagship, acetate fronts in unusual shapes, named with three-digit numbers. The Eye-Witness line collaborates with outside designers (Tim Van Steenbergen, Patrick Hoet) for limited runs.

The Theo collections
Mille (the core acetate line, numbered rather than named), Eye-Witness (designer collaborations, smaller runs), the Theo titanium line, and the kids collection. The Mille 22, Mille 49, and the round Eye-Witness shapes are the most-requested at our bench. Stock rotates across our stores, so call ahead if you want a specific number.

Theo is for people who choose eyewear the way they choose furniture or art. If you find most designer frames blandly competent and want a piece that announces itself without shouting, Theo is usually the answer. The shapes are confident, the colors are unapologetic, and every model commits to a point of view.
Pairing with prescription lenses
Theo acetate is generously thick, which holds high-index lenses cleanly even in the more sculptural shapes. For progressives, we steer toward the rectangular Mille models, which give enough vertical corridor for a comfortable read zone. The asymmetric and round shapes work better for single-vision or computer lenses. We measure by hand and verify at pickup.
Authorized dealer. Voorthuis is an authorized Theo retailer. Every frame arrives from the brand's authorized channel with the original case and documentation. Pricing. Theo frames typically range from $400 to $700; Eye-Witness collaborations and limited runs can sit higher. Prescription lenses are priced separately based on your prescription strength, lens design, and coatings. We provide a written estimate before you commit.
Lens turnaround.Single-vision lenses are typically 5 to 7 business days; progressives, 7 to 10. Adjustments stay free for as long as you wear the frame.

Measurement first
Bridge width, pupillary distance (PD), and temple length at the bench. These numbers eliminate frames that won't sit correctly on your face.

Lifestyle and use
A few questions before we pull any frames: mostly screen work or outdoors? Single pair or adding a sun option? Drive at night? The answers shape lens selection before you've touched a frame.

Frame trial and comparison
We pull three to five candidates. You try them in sequence - we give honest opinions on what's working. The two or three that survive go side by side until one is clear.

Lens selection and precision adjustment
Lens material, AR coating, tints if relevant. The frame gets adjusted to your face before you leave - bridge, temples, nose pads. That last step is why glasses from us don't slide.
