Eyeglasses & Sunglasses

Tom Ford at Voorthuis.

Confident silhouettes, signature T detail · Since 2005, Italian-made

Tom Ford eyewear is design under pressure. Heavier acetate, deliberate proportions, and the unmistakable T-bar at the temple combine into frames that hold the room without straining for it. As a licensed Tom Ford carrier, we carry both the optical line and a deep selection of the sunglass collection at our DC-area locations.

What you get with Tom Ford.

A tray of Tom Ford frames at Voorthuis
i.

Italian craftsmanship

Made by Marcolin in Italy, with the build quality and acetate richness that distinction implies. Hinges and rivets are noticeably more substantial than chain alternatives.

ii.

The T-bar temple

The metal T at the temple is the signature. On some models it’s subtle inlay; on others it’s the focal point. Either way, recognizable from across a room.

iii.

Architectural shapes

Tom Ford frames trade in confident geometry: the bold rectangle, the assertive aviator, the deliberate cat-eye. Faces that suit them tend to look better in them than in anything else.

iv.

A sunglass-first sensibility

The sun line is the heart of the brand. Most frames are built with both optical and sun versions; the same design language carries across. A Tom Ford sunglass is rarely an afterthought.

Who Tom Ford is made for

Tom Ford is for people who like a frame that does some work. If you’ve been told ‘nothing looks bold on me,’ Tom Ford is usually where that quiet trial run ends. The bridge proportions are generous, the acetate is forgiving, and the design language reads instantly as premium.

Optical vs. sunglass

Almost every Tom Ford model exists in both clear and tinted. We typically build sunglass orders polarized. The cost difference is minor, the visual benefit is significant, especially for driving and DC summers.

A note on fit

Tom Ford frames run on the heavier side. A proper fitting matters more than usual, so bridge measurement, pantoscopic tilt, and pad adjustment all earn their keep. Our opticians measure by hand and verify at pickup.

Authorized dealer. Voorthuis is an authorized Tom Ford retailer. Every frame arrives from the brand's authorized channel with the original case and documentation. Stock rotates across our stores - tell us the model you want and we'll transfer it to your preferred neighborhood location for a consultation and fitting.

Pricing. Tom Ford optical frames typically range from $420 to $625; sunglasses run roughly the same. Prescription lenses are priced separately based on your prescription strength, lens design, and coatings. We provide a written estimate before you commit.

Lens turnaround.Single-vision lenses are typically 5 to 7 business days; progressives, 7 to 10. Adjustments stay free for as long as you wear the frame.

Our process

How we fit you.

No upsell, no rush. Try them on, fitted in person.

  1. 01

    Measurement first

Bridge width, pupillary distance (PD), and temple length at the bench. These numbers eliminate frames that won't sit correctly on your face.

  2. 02

    Lifestyle and use

A few questions before we pull any frames: mostly screen work or outdoors? Single pair or adding a sun option? Drive at night? The answers shape lens selection before you've touched a frame.

  3. 03

    Frame trial and comparison

We pull three to five candidates. You try them in sequence - we give honest opinions on what's working. The two or three that survive go side by side until one is clear.

  4. 04

    Lens selection and precision adjustment

Lens material, AR coating, tints if relevant. The frame gets adjusted to your face before you leave - bridge, temples, nose pads. That last step is why glasses from us don't slide.

Frequently asked

Tom Ford questions, plainly answered.

How much do Tom Ford frames cost at Voorthuis?
Tom Ford optical frames typically range from $420 to $625, depending on the model and materials. Sunglasses run roughly the same. Prescription lenses are fitted separately based on prescription strength, lens design, and coatings. We provide a complete itemized estimate before you commit.
Why are Tom Ford glasses so expensive?
You are paying for Italian manufacturing by Marcolin (heavier acetate, substantial hinges, and the metal T-bar detail) plus the fitting. We measure, adjust, and verify every frame at the bench, and adjustments stay free for the life of the frame. A frame measured and fitted at the bench, with free adjustments for its life, costs more up front but far less over the years.
Is Voorthuis an authorized Tom Ford dealer?
Yes. We are an authorized Tom Ford retailer. Every frame ships from Marcolin's authorized US channel and arrives with the original Tom Ford case, cloth, and documentation.
Can I get Tom Ford with my prescription?
Yes. Every Tom Ford optical frame can be fitted with single-vision, progressive, high-index, or photochromic lenses. Our on-site optometrists can update your prescription the same day at most locations.
Do you carry Tom Ford sunglasses?
Yes. We stock the Tom Ford sun collection across all our locations, including polarized and gradient options. Any Tom Ford sun frame can take prescription lenses if you want a matched set with your optical.
Does Voorthuis accept vision insurance for Tom Ford?
No. We don't bill vision insurance at any of our locations. That choice is what lets our optometrists spend a full 45 minutes per exam. We accept FSA and HSA, and provide itemized invoices for out-of-network reimbursement.
How long does it take to get my Tom Ford glasses?
Single-vision lenses typically come back in 5 to 7 business days. Progressives run 7 to 10. We call as soon as the glasses arrive for a final fitting, and adjustments stay free for as long as you wear the frame.
Can I try Tom Ford without an appointment?
Yes. Walk into any location during business hours and ask to see the Tom Ford collection. Frame browsing never needs an appointment. If you also want an eye exam the same day, call ahead to confirm the optometrist's availability.
